Jemstep – a new SA journey into Silicon Valley
There’s been a bit of noise lately with several people taking to writing about their new ventures and the victories and challenges along the way.
One I want to share is about a South African heading off to Silicon Valley [no, not Vinny Lingham] to start his new adventure there – Kevin Cimring. I came across this after Kevin stopped by here on OutThink and left a comment [thanks, Kevin]. It fascinates [and impresses] me to see someone taking such a large leap of faith [and secretly I harbour the desire to experience the Silicon Valley buzz... but one day...].
Kevin’s new venture is called Jemstep, and their site is already up and running, although I believe it is still in testing state.
One of their communication means I like is a regular newsletter using Scribd [haven't seen any other use of this locally yet] – here’s the Jemstep newsletter for September 2008
I don’t have clarity on Jemstep’s business at the moment, other than to say that they help customers to understand and identify which products suit their circumstances and why [their tagline is "What's your #1?"], using your own criteria to rank products and find those that suit you best. They show a great belief and excitement in the concept and prospects, and I’m sure it will be fascinating to watch it unfold.
You can read about Kevin’s adventures here on Kevin’s great Internet adventure, or follow Kevin on Twitter here.
Good luck out there Kevin and team!
After all – every journey of a thousand miles starts with the first Jemstep
