Business models on business cards

Businesses can be fascinating, but let’s face it – we live in a complex world and understanding businesses can be a complex undertaking.

I like to understand fundamentals – what is the core business? Simplify. Break it down, baby.

So that’s something I’m going to look into. And although not a fan myself, I’ve been inspired by Hugh MacLeod’s “cartoons drawn on the back of business cards” – aka gapingvoid.

See what I’m getting at?

“business models on the back of business cards”. voila. makes sense too, doesn’t it [in some weirdly ironic yet poetically just way]. It’s great because you have to simplify or run out of space, and it’s a creative outlet too, in a way.

Using a simple example to illustrate the point, here’s a [very] basic one of a typical consultant relationship:

The main idea is to show the basic exchange of goods and services with primary stakeholders.  I’m no artist, but I think it’s still a cool idea.

So where better to kick off than the incumbent online juggernaut:

Know who it is? Got any ideas for some others to do? Please leave a comment.
